The 21st and 22nd of March 2027 offer a rare window of the combined auspiciousness of 3 significant occasions as per the Hindu Calendar — Phalgun Purnima, Lakshmi Jayanti, and Holika Dahan. Below, we cover everything you need to know about these occasions and how to benefit from them on your spiritual journey.
Occasions on 21 & 22 Mar 2027
Phalgun Purnima (Full Moon Day)
All Purnimas are considered auspicious and generally coincide with Hindu festivals or Jayantis.
Phalgun Purnima, the last full moon day of the Hindu year, coincides with Holi, and Lakshmi Jayanti, the day of Ma Lakshmi’s emergence, the Goddess of Wealth and Prosperity.

Phalgun is the season of blossoming. The air turns fragrant, trees flower, and nature expresses Rasa (aesthetic essence). So, Phalgun Purnima magnifies emotional currents, which is why festivals like Holi express both joy and catharsis.
As this Purnima also coincides with a total lunar eclipse and blood moon, its effects are amplified.
Lakshmi Jayanti
Lakshmi Jayanti or Lakshmi Prakatya Divas is Goddess Lakshmi’s Day of Emergence. According to the Puranas, She first appeared on Phalgun Purnima during the Samudra Manthan (the great churning of the milky ocean, Kshirsagar).
Phalgun Purnima almost always coincides with Uttar Phalguni Nakshatra. Therefore, the day of Uttar Phalguni is considered Lakshmi Jayanti. Like the day of Lakshmi Pujan during Diwali, it is one of the most important days to worship and seek the blessings of Ma Lakshmi.
Holika Dahan
Holika Dahan, also known as Chhoti Holi or Holika Deepak, is a sacred Hindu ritual observed on the full moon night (Purnima) of the month of Phalgun, on the eve of Holi. The ritual centres around the lighting of a ceremonial bonfire and symbolises the triumph of righteousness over evil, devotion over arrogance, and divine protection over destructive forces.

Holika Dahan is based on the Puranic tale of Prahlad, the devoted son of Asura Hiranyakashipu, who demanded to be worshipped as supreme. Despite threats, Prahlad remained faithful to Lord Vishnu. To kill him, the king sought help from his sister Holika, who was believed to be immune to fire. She sat with Prahlad in a blazing pyre, but while he emerged unharmed through his unwavering faith, Holika was burned.
The bonfire of Holika Dahan thus symbolises the destruction of arrogance and evil, and the triumph of sincere devotion.

Lakshmi Jayanti and Phalgun Purnima further add to their auspiciousness.
This unique combination of occasions makes 21-22 Mar 2027 (Sun & Mon) a potent 2-day period for Tantra Sadhana, especially for Ma Kamalatmika, the Tantric form of Goddess Lakshmi.
